  • I'm a bit puzzled by Brian Williams' perspective. Why in the world would Mr. Boehner feel even remotely responsible? The only possible explanation is that Mr. Williams assumes that just because a very small portion of people are "birthers" you must be too since you're conservative or Republican.

  • Talk about disingenuous journalism. The reason the spending cuts won't add up to $100 billion is because the Congress isn't operating on a budget, but simply stopgap resolutions. In other words the money is already spent for almost half the fiscal year.

  • When was the last time anyone was hired by someone who didn't own a business? Those are the so-called rich that would be taxed. Why would you want to take money from those that produce (hiring, investing) and give it to the government to spend (Post office, health care - Medicare)? The rich vs.

  • We don't want a government takeover of healthcare. The portions of our system that aren't working need to be fixed. It's not perfect.

  • I agree. The latest campaign is stupid at worst and shortsighted at best. The real problem is the Republican party has been lost for quite some time because it hasn't held to conservative principles. The best thing for the GOP is to return to those basic conservative principles.

  • Don't the Democrats control the majority in the House? Unlike in some sessions when the minority party can prevent votes, this was an actual vote. If all Democrats had voted for the bill and all Republicans had voted against, the bill would have passed.
